This Years Speaker
Facilitator: Ned Hallowell, M.D “CRAZYBUSY: Overbooked, Overworked and About to Snap!”
A practical look at how to take charge of today’s super-busy world so that it does not take charge of you.
Modern life has gone wild. Many of us handle more data points in one day than we did in one month, just a decade ago. Conversations are cut short and communication derails as frenzy becomes more and more the norm. E-mail, cell phones, smartphones, and all the rest of our electronic devices have created exciting opportunities, but they have also created unique and potentially catastrophic problems never before seen in human history.
Run ragged by the multiple and simultaneous demands we must handle, today’s leaders have almost no time to do what the human brain is uniquely equipped to do: namely, think creatively.
At this presentation you will learn:
- How to identify the most dangerous drains on your time and energy, and how to develop a daily rhythm that works for you
- How to replenish energy and focus throughout the day and how to prevent the state of overloaded circuits
- How to focus and prioritize so that you and the people you manage can get the most out of their work
About Dr. Edward (Ned) Hallowell
Dr. Hallowell is a child and adult psychiatrist and founder of The Hallowell Centers in Sudbury, MA, and New York City. A member of the Harvard Medical School faculty from 1983, in 2004 he retired from academics to devote his attention to his clinical practice, lectures, and writing.
Dr. Hallowell has authored 18 books on psychological topics such as attention deficit disorder, the power of the human connection, childhood roots of happiness in life, methods of forgiving, dealing with worry, and managing excessive busyness. In 1994, Dr. Hallowell and Dr. John Ratey introduced the public to ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) when they co-authored Driven to Distraction and the accompanying Answers to Distraction (1995).
A highly-recognized speaker world-wide, Dr. Hallowell has been featured on 20/20, 60 Minutes, Oprah, PBS, CNN, The Today Show, Dateline, and Good Morning America. He has been interviewed for the New York Times, Newsweek, Time Magazine, U.S. News and World Report, the Los Angeles Times, and the Boston Globe.
Dr. Hallowell lives in the Boston area with his wife and their three children. His greatest love is spending time with them, doing whatever they want to do. Each year the family spends one month at the aptly-named Lake Doolittle, where they connect and slow down.
